Whitehaven Theatre Marlborough (formerly ASB Theatre) is the region’s premier venue for events, performances, and community gatherings. Opened in 2016, this modern multipurpose facility features a world-class auditorium, a scenic function space, a flexible black box theatre, and a spacious open foyer that seamlessly connects all three venues. From intimate gatherings to large-scale productions, the theatre accommodates a diverse range of events including conferences, gala dinners, cocktail functions, cultural performances, trade exhibitions, and live entertainment.

At the heart of the venue is the McLauchlan Family Auditorium, our flagship space for grand events and unforgettable experiences. This purpose-built 700-seat lyric theatre offers exceptional acoustics, split-level seating, and efficient stage access, making it ideal for live performances, keynote presentations, conferences, and touring productions. As the largest purpose-built theatre at the top of the South Island, it is fully equipped to international standards, featuring a fly tower and counterweight flying system, state-of-the-art lighting and sound control desks, professional theatre lighting, and a comprehensive PA system.

The Whitehaven Wine Room provides an elegant and versatile setting with stunning views overlooking the Taylor River. Perfect for meetings, seminars, cocktail events, dinners, and exhibitions, the space can accommodate up to 120 guests for dining or 150 for cocktail-style functions. Its fully movable wall system and seamless integration with the main foyer allow for exceptional flexibility and customised event configurations.

For smaller-scale events, the Anderson Theatre offers an intimate and highly adaptable black box studio theatre. Designed with flexibility in mind, this boutique venue is ideal for small concerts, theatrical performances, breakout sessions, exhibitions, meetings, seminars, and creative events requiring a more personal atmosphere.

Conveniently located adjacent to the Marlborough Events Centre, Whitehaven Theatre Marlborough forms part of an integrated events precinct, enabling a smooth flow of activity for major conferences, festivals, exhibitions, and regional events.
