Rōpū Ringatoi (Māori Artists Collective)

Rōpū Ringatoi was established to strengthen, promote and sustain Māori arts in Marlborough, recognising Toi Māori as a living expression of whakapapa and cultural identity.

Facilitated by Creative Marlborough and grounded in tikanga Māori, the rōpū is led by iwi representatives and practising Māori artists, providing a dedicated forum for collaboration, planning and advocacy.

The initiative responds to the absence of a formal structure supporting Toi Māori in the rohe and aims to strengthen connections between artists, networks and resources while increasing the visibility of Māori creative practice.Rōpū Ringatoi's work includes mapping Māori creative activity in Marlborough, supporting wānanga and workshops, providing advice on public art and cultural infrastructure, and developing partnerships with organisations and other sector bodies.Image: Te Waka a Māui at Marlborough Airport
