Scenes of Marlborough

An exhibition showcasing the work of Blenheim photographer Anthony Phelps was presented as a photography pop-up at 71 Queen Street, with Harcourts Marlborough generously making the vacant space available for the exhibition.

Anthony Phelps has worked as a photographer throughout his career, including in news media, sports and corporate public relations in New Zealand and overseas. Now based in Blenheim, he brings more than 40 years of experience to his photography.

The exhibition featured spectacular images of Marlborough alongside an eclectic selection from his books From AK79 to the Class of 81, documenting Auckland punk bands, and September 12, the Third and Final Protest of the 1981 Springbok Tour.

The exhibition is part of Space Create, a Council initiative to revitalise town centres into vibrant community hubs through art, performance and pop-up projects.
