Details: Te Waka a Māui takes the form of a waka reaching skyward, representing the enduring connection between the people, stories and whenua of Te Tauihu. Inspired by local kōrero about Māui and the fishing up of Te Ika a Māui, the pou honours the voyaging traditions and ancestral connections of the iwi of the region. A joint initiative by Rangitāne o Wairau, Ngāti Rārua, Ngāti Toa, and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi.
